Building and Home Remodeling

The Building and Home Remodeling course acquaints students with the proper techniques of general building construction and remodeling. The program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills in the maintenance and repair of residential, office, apartment buildings and other commercial buildings. Students learn basic skills in carpentry, painting, sheet metal, trowel trades, electricity, carpet and vinyl floor installation, and plumbing. Students develop the ability to read, interpret and make simple drawings, and to make necessary shop calculations. Instruction is provided in a variety of activities such as cost estimation, cutting, fitting, fastening, and finishing with the use of a variety of hand and power tools.
